Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

The Space Key is made of carbon composite material which Lamborghini, as part of a research project in the year 2019 sent to the International Space Station. Once it returned to earth, carbon fiber was fashioned into this distinctive artwork. The physical piece includes an NFT serial code that ties to the digital artwork through a QR code printed on the back.

For those who don't aware, NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to digital assets such as a photograph, video or any other recording. This allows owners to verify the authenticity, scarcity and trackability of their tokens over the internet.

Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art a step further by working with NFT PRO - a white label NFT solution for business. In the coming weeks Lamborghini will reveal details about the exciting project, including the name of the unknown artist and a timeline for the auction.

The physical component of Space Key

The NFT was created in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned off in a few short weeks. The NFT is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of an experiment. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital artwork via an QR code on its backside. Five Space Keys have been produced.

The digital artwork

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth, the block was inscribed with a QR codes that connect to the digital component in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that occurs only seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera fitted with a lens to capture the individual images, which were then assembled into the final photograph. The result is a photo that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic image of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there is no exact date or location yet.

The auction
