How to Replace an audi replacement key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated at the edge of transmission over the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails the ECU will throw a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and cost Of Audi key replacement G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two connector pins, and they perform different functions but the best method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is fully operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs. Three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I get zero Ohm. I assume that the problem is somewhere else.

woman-showing-the-car-keys-2022-12-16-22-09-32-utc-min-scaled.jpgI also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I believe that I've eliminated everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find a spare in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is easy to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the speed and Audi replacement keys position of the crankshaft to make a decision about timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If you have a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could lead to an engine shut down.

A damaged G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox, a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in the gear. If you have any of these issues, it is likely your sensor is deteriorating and should be replaced. The good news is that they are quite affordable and easily accessible particularly in the case of the Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. You can also choose the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's an essential component cost of audi key replacement your audi replacement key's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components of the car to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate fuel, timig, and boost and then sends it on to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a standard part across the audi New key 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.
